2025 Diverse Voices Report
We were delighted to be included in the latest Diverse Voices Network report by Future Food Movement.
The report brings together perspectives from industry leaders, experts, NGOs, citizens and youth voices, helping food industry professionals understand actions they can take.
The snapshot report for Future Food Movement members includes a range of perspectives on a “Big Question” to help organisations see beyond their own lens. We gave our Harris and Hayes take on the question “What changes in the food industry do you want to see in 2025?”
I'd like to see more meaningful new product development (NPD), informed by genuine insight. Brands might need to break with category conventions, rather than just playing it safe with new flavour SKUs. Innovation requires significant investment, time and budget if it's going to stick, but brands that take risks and really respond to their consumers' emerging wants and needs can still create genuine innovation. Data shows that consumers seek newness that better supports their fast-moving, diversified lifestyles. Most importantly, NPD must be delicious; health, sustainability, and/or convenience are all key, but nothing beats flavour.
At Harris and Hayes, we've seen huge advantages in bigger brands collaborating with reputable challengers, changemakers and innovators to disrupt thinking and collectively identify solutions for healthier and more sustainable diets. There needs to be more test-and-learn strategies, so brands can innovate faster and stay in line with the speed of culture.
