Ice Cream Innovation for Beltane & Pop
We developed an innovative, consumer-driven concept and product range for premium high street ice cream brand Beltane & Pop.
The first staged explored broad creative concepts that the brand could own and that offered a distinct USP in the ice cream space. We then developed a chosen shortlist of concepts into a fully-fledged range of product serves, which have since been launched in their Westfield White City branch.
Unexpected colours, instant flavour hooks, and truly innovative formats were all part of a dynamic approach to the future of soft serve and slush. Inspired by catwalk fashion at the Met Gala, we designed a hyper-sized garnish for each sundae, for example, to ensure iconic recognition and social media appeal, whilst still delivering on flavour.
THE PROJECT
We were commissioned to re-imagine Beltane & Pop’s slush and sundae concepts:
Slushes were inspired by nostalgic flavours with subtle, genius twists that provoke happy memories. Our research showed that consumers wanted to tap into nostalgic feelings, whilst experiencing new and exciting flavours. Our new slush flavours were:
Coconut Ice: Pink Lemonade Slush, Wild Strawberry & Coconut Cream, Pink Toasted Coconut & Peppercorn
Blue Raspberry: Blue Raspberry Slush, Raspberry & Yuzu Coulis, Maraschino Cherry
Tutti Frutti: Tangerine Slush, Pineapple & Root Ginger Puree, Passionfruit Pearls
Soft Serve creations were power pairings made in heaven. Our research showed that consumers were seeking epic flavours and revolutionary combinations to create the ultimate ice cream experience. Our soft serve sundae flavours included:
Beetroot & Orange Blossom: Baby Beet Soft Serve, Orange Blossom Caramel, Blackcurrant Dust, Ginger Rye Cookie
Tahini Billionaire: Tahini Soft Serve, Plantain Caramel, Halva Pops, Black Sesame Shortbread
Coffee & Croissant: Milt Top Soft Serve, Coffee & Cassis Coulis, Salted Fudge Crumble, Mini Croissant
